Hi Robert - It’s Douglas Butler, I did my 1 month placement with the torridon and I am  writing this e-mail to thank yourself and all the staff at the Torridon they made me feel very welcome. I learned a lot from your hotel i.e  First impressions always count I have taken more pride in what i look like in jobs and interviews.  I am now at College studying HND Hospitality Mangement. What I learned from The Torridon I have taken into my course and also my career in the industry.   I also learned from yourself and the rest of the managment team that I can acheive anything in life as before i came up to your hotel i had low self esteem but now that i have achieved one of goals in gaining experince in fine dining i am more proud of myself i can acheive anything and "aim high" which is one quote is going to stay with me for life.  I am also proud of the industry that i am in and making good progress in my career.  I learned so much from yourself and staff at the Torridon i cannot put it into words. Learned that the customer comes first in every occasion no matter what they ask for.  Also never say NO to a customer as at the end of the day they are paying our wages and giving us an excellent reputation.

Chef de Partie

(available from 1st February 2010)

A new year and a new challenge we are looking for perfection in the Torridon Kitchen and keen to move the food to the next level.  We are looking for a dynamic individual who wants to join our brigade.  You may have  either two or three rosette experience but with drive and ambition you will want to produce the best food in Scotland.  This could be the first step from a commis position as long as you are dedicated then we want to hear from you. 

 

Commis Pastry Chef
Assist the pastry chef with the organisation of your pastry section, to at least a three rosette standard/michelin star.  Assist with providing a consistent standard for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.  Contribute to ensuring the highest level of hygiene over and above statutory requirements.  Assist other sections in the kitchen wherever possible. 

 

Receptionist

We currently looking for an enthusiastic person who is passionate, driven and motivated in customer service, to join our front of house team as a receptionist.  Skills required are: a positive, friendly telephone manner, computer literate in Microsoft windows and the ability to multi-task.  Knowledge of using a front of house system beneficial but not essential.  Previous experience in a similar role in a red star property preferred but if you are willing to learn, we will be happy to train you.  Good salary and great development & training opportunities.

 

Graduate Marketing Student

 

We are looking for some one who will assist with the development of our marketing activities, particularly focusing on online marketing.  The successful applicant would become involved in ongoing marketing activities, organising events, as well as proposed projects involving social networking sites, blogs, online reservations, search engine optimisation etc.  They would also support day-to-day operations, as and when required.  Key skills we are looking for: IT skills, IT social networking, online marketing knowledge, general marketing.
